Telephones

call when feeling blue
Its a little bit awkward when you get a message on your mobile phone that is personalised to you, but you don't know who it is from. For example, "your name, dear". I received one of those yesterday, but its a little bit awkward to ask who it is. Well I find it so anyway.

Wouldn't it be nice if I had an old phone with big chunky buttons that rings a bit like "Brr, cough, splatter, brrr" That was my attempt at phone noise making. But you get the idea. A phone that sounds as though its going to die when it is ringing.

Rather than this small thing which is quite hardy I might add, its been through washing machines and fallen off balconies, yet it still works though I'll be it not as well. I'm too put off by the technological do whatsies to look for another one.

But these messages... people should really just call. Then I won't feel so strange for not knowing who the secret message person is.

However, this little talking bit of oddness has allowed me to look at nice photographs of phones. Perhaps I should do some creating art making inspired by them. Yes, maybe so!

Excuses.

I have this very guilty feeling, almost as if I can't look at my own blog due to being so neglectful. I failed. Well actually a lot has happened lately. So this is for that. A nice little catch up, list of reasons to make me feel less terrible for abandoning something that I promised myself I would do. Also a list of exciting happy things as well, after all Monday morning's aren't supposed to be miserable!

1. I can now go here:

circus liquor. north hollywood, ca. 2008.
Well not exactly considering I live over the seas. But the idea is the same. I wonder if there are actual clowns within the store though. Golly gosh I would laugh, though be slightly worried.

2. I began uni, otherwise known as Art School, otherwise known as "Let's cut up paper and draw people all day."
It is lovely.

3. I got appendicitis. Yuck. Its okay though. Hospitals are strange places, I was utterly bored the entire time I was there.

Paris sous la neige...

I would have much rather been here.

And there is a brief but comprehensive, none the less, list of reasons about my lack of computer action.

If

If my life does not go according to plan in relation to University and what not. I think that I would be just as happy being the man there. Selling paintings in Paris on the side of the street. While it may not be high paying, seeing the many faces of people walking past and being in a beautiful place would be joy enough. Occasionally I would buy a loaf of bread and some boysenberry jam to eat.

Or perhaps the lady with the warm jacket. I wonder where she is going?

Beirut

The band not the city.

So while many others before have mentioned the beauty that is Beirut I need to add my adoration. Zach Condon makes me sway as his polished, rustic melodies float through the air into my ears. He reminds me of carousels and circus tents, the driving force behind a new found inspiration. Yes, this is music, how I like it to be.

The music over rules the fact that this clip might not be the best quality. Sway side to side and run off with the Gypsy living at the docks.

Carousels and Balloons

Christmas has come and gone. New Years has come and gone. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I thought about looking back at 2008, and then I thought about 2009 and all the things that will come with it. The more I thought the more I decided that I didn't particularly want to do either. Right now I'm enjoying my dream world too much to leave it. But for the sake of remembering later, a quick list of what happened last year:
  • I woke up and went to school
  • Pierced my nose
  • Was rather ill
  • Cut my hair off
  • Fell in love with vintage dresses and teacups (oh no wait, that was my entire life)
  • Missed friends and found them again
  • Received a telephone call
Next year I hope will be full of nice things, nice people, picnics and dresses. I hope that also that I don't put holes in all my stockings. For that to happen I might need to stop being so clumsy. No. That won't happen.

And to finish, this is what I am currently dreaming about: Carousels and Balloons.

Lemons

'I got a basket full of lemons and they all taste the same.'

I like the song that the above line is from. Beautiful, passionate and a wee bit sad.

Paris Je'taime

I finished watching this movie. I adore it.
